NHL Trade Talk Recap: Bruins, Jets, Canucks, Hurricanes, Avs
NHL Trade Talk Recap Jan. 24: might Bruins move Marchand, Toews tells Jets not yet, Canucks and leadership issues, Canes swing a huge trade.
In today’s NHL Trade Talk Recap (Jan. 24), the day’s biggest news happened late. Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall were traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in a complex three-way deal. The Vancouver Canucks remain in turmoil. Does that put Rick Tocchet under pressure? J.T. Miller’s future lingers in no-man’s land. Given today’s late news, expect the Hurricanes to drop out of the Miller trade talk. What will happen after the Rantanen trade settles remains to be seen.
Jacob Markstrom will miss 4-6 weeks due to injury. Leon Draisaitl continues to build his legacy with the Oilers, while there’s some noise that Brad Marchand could be traded. Meanwhile, Tony DeAngelo joined the Islanders on a one-year deal. Corey Perry is making an unconventional impact for the Oilers, and Jonathan Toews won’t return this season.

Jonathan Toews Tells Jets He’ll Sit Out This Season
The word from hockey insider Pierre LeBrun is that Jonathan Toews told the Winnipeg Jets he won’t return this season.
