Canucks Willing to Trade Carson Soucy
Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday that the Vancouver Canucks have made defenseman Carson Soucy available in trade. Having found himself on the outside with the acquisition of Marcus Pettersson, Soucy is likely going to be moved if there’s an audience for him.
“While Soucy is available for trade, sense is he wants to try and make it work still with Van. Still, his camp and Canucks have talked about working together on a potential trade if that’s the end result before March 7.”
Soucy has a full no-trade clause this year; next year, a 12-team no-trade. The Edmonton Oilers were once almost traded for Soucy. Would they be open to talking about a trade again?
Flames Fall Short vs. Leafs, Still Want Cozens
The Calgary Flames came up short versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, losing 6-3 at home. William Nylander had a hat trick for Toronto.
Meanwhile, there is talk that the Flames are still very interested in forward Dylan Cozens. Are the Buffalo Sabres willing to trade Cozens and do the Flames have the pieces GM Kevyn Adams would want to let Cozens go? TSN’s Pierre LeBrun noted, “Adams is taking calls cuz Buffalo’s in the last place, and he has to take calls.” LeBrun also said if the Sabres do entertain a move, they want an “apples to apples” trade.
The Maple Leafs did not have Mitch Marner in the win over Calgary. He is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Oilers and Brad Marchand?
After The Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa said Brad Marchand could be traded and Allan Mitchell said the Oilers should be all over Marchand if he becomes available, Elliotte Friedman is wondering if there’s something to the idea that Marchand could be traded.
During Friday’s 32 Thoughts podcast:
“They’re [Boston] out of the playoffs and the thing is, like their math isn’t great either. They have played more games than anybody else in the race. Now, there’s still lots of time. They still have 29 games left in the season. But, if Boston takes on water, I’m really going to be curious to see where this goes.” He added, “…it’s just that one I just had me thinking.”
