2 Boston Bruins Forwards Stir Buzz with Trade Deadline Chatter

Two forwards from the Boston Bruins, Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, could be top trade candidates from the team this season.

With less than two months until the 2025 NHL trade deadline approaches, the Boston Bruins are a part of recent trade rumors. No, it doesn’t have anything to do with the rumored drama between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. Instead, two forwards, Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, are emerging as potential trade deadline candidates.

TSN’s recent trade bait board for the 2024-25 season highlights Frederic at No. 9 and Brazeau at No. 16, while the Athletic has Frederic at No., 11 on their list.

Trent Frederic’s Trade Popularity Fluctuating

Frederic, who broke out with 18 goals and 40 points last season, had drawn attention from teams earlier in the season. However, a severe drop-off in production has created questions. Entering the final season of his contract, Frederic, 25, offers size, speed, and versatility. As noted by Johnston, “Boston’s not in sell mode, but should it reverse course later this season, Frederic would be a valuable trade asset. The vultures are already circling.”

Brazeau Turning Into a Solid Player

Brazeau, another pending unrestricted free agent, could be trade as well. While he didn’t make The Athletic’s list, the 6-foot-6 winger is an intriguing third line option for teams. His $775,000 cap hit, along with his respectable production of10 goals and 19 points, (along with 70 hits) makes his a steal for someone.

The fact he’s turning into such a steady contributor might be why he’s not on The Athletic’s list. The Bruins might be thinking about re-signing him.

The Bruins might not be ready to make a trade just yet, but there are some players to watch from this team. This is especially accurate if the team continues to see its share of struggles. They hold the No. 1 wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, but not by much. A losing streak puts them at risk of missing.

If the Bruins falter, Frederic and Brazeau could be key trade pieces as contenders look to bolster their lineups for the postseason.
