In addition, the Maple Leafs beat long-time Atlantic rivals the Lightning 5-3. And, in their first home game since the devastating fires, the Los Angeles Kings lost 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Utah Hockey Club Defeats Winnipeg Jets 5-2 in Home Win
Barrett Hayton scored and added two assists in leading his Utah team to a 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley also scored in the Utah victory. Goalie Connor Ingram made 23 saves to help his team win its second straight game.
For the Jets, Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves but lost. The Jets have lost six of their past 10 games (4-4-2). Coach Scott Arniel called it the team’s most embarrassing game of the NHL season.
Two Matthews, Auston and Knies, Lead Maple Leafs to a 5-3 Win
In our second NHL roundup, last night in a game between Atlantic Division rivals, Auston Matthews extended his goal streak to four games as his Maple Leafs beat the Lightning by a score of 5-3. Matthew Knies scored twice, and added an assist in the win. It was Toronto’s third straight win.
Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly added an assist and played in his 839th game. He moved into sole possession of 10th on the franchise’s all-time games played list.

Kings Hosted Penguins in Return to Crypto.com Arena
In a game that almost has almost less to do with hockey than life, the Los Angeles Kings played the Pittsburgh Penguins in Los Angeles. As fans know, the area has been devastated with fires and many have lost homes and property. The Kings hosted an emotional ceremony after wildfires devastated the region. Anze Kopitar and Sidney Crosby honored the first responders before game. In the game, Crosby scored a goal and added an assist in the Penguins’ 5-1 win.
