Maple Leafs Among 3 Teams to Pitch a Returning Jonathan Toews
The Toronto Maple Leafs are among three teams listed as potential suitors for a returning Jonathan Toews. Who are the other two?
NHL insider Frank Seravalli noted during Thursday’s hockey broadcast on Amazon that three teams are listed as potential suitors for veteran NHL star Jonathan Toews. As part of the Sports On Prime Canada broadcast, Seravalli listed the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, and Colorado Avalanche.

Seravalli talked about Toews’ five-week healing journey in India, as the former Chicago Blackhawk great has been suffering from chronic inflammatory response disorder. Seravalli noted that Toews says he’s feeling the best he has in years and hinted, along with his agent Pat Brisson from CAA Sports, they’re thinking about making a hockey comeback.
He also said that it’s not entirely clear whether or not Toews might try to resume playing this year, in which case he would need to be on a roster by the trade deadline on March 7th. This could be something that will wait until next year.

Seravalli added:
“… I’m going to give you three teams to keep an eye on if Jonathan Toews does decide to make it come back bid. One of them is the Toronto Maple Leafs. A third-line center has been on Brad Treliving’s wish list all season long. The other would be the Winnipeg Jets, the hometown team for Jonathan Toews. And, the third would be the Colorado Avalanche, in desperate need of another center.”
He said all three are genuine, legitimate Stanley Cup contenders, and all would be interested to see what the three-time Stanley Cup winner and the clutch player would have left in the tank.
