Insiders Report: Canucks Will Hear Offers on Pettersson and Miller

As per reports from both Nick Kypreos and Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks are listening to offers on their star players. The star players that these reports are referring to are both Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller. Unfortunately, it seems both players can’t overcome the speculated drama that surrounds them.
Friedman’s Thoughts on Pettersson and the Canucks
Friedman appeared on The Fan Hockey Show on Thursday and talked about what he has been hearing out of Vancouver.
“The stress of it all, and the fact that it’s still a thing, has begun to spill over elsewhere into the organization. I think in their eyes it’s not even so much about choosing one over the other, it’s about ‘I cannot believe that we still have to deal with this… Like, really, this is still a thing?’ I believe that everybody knows that Vancouver is open to listening, I believe they have already on both players and will continue to do so.”
It seems like the drama between Miller and Pettersson has the organization a bit fed up. As Friedman mentioned, it “has begun to spill over elsewhere into the organization.” If that’s the case, expect a move before the March 7 trade deadline.
Friedman did say that the team’s preference is that everyone grows up and figures it out. The worry now is that this might not happen, and GM Patrik Allvin’s recent comments were to spark a fire under Pettersson and get teams calling.
Kypreos’ Report on Miller and the Canucks
In Kypreos’ latest article in the Toronto Star, he shares what he had heard about Vancouver.
“It’s sounding like the Vancouver Canucks are leaning toward a major roster change as it becomes clearer to management that the current roster — specifically feuding stars J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson — cannot co-exist. Don’t be surprised if we start hearing the Canucks are willing to take calls on Miller.”
Earlier this season, there was chatter that the New York Rangers were interested in Miller. If there ever was a major shake-up made by the Canucks it could involve both these clubs.
If we connect the dots on both reports, it seems like Miller will likely be the Canuck that is heading for the door this season.
