Dylan Larkin Expected to Alter Teams on his 10-Team Trade List

It is expected that Dylan Larkin will update his 10-team trade list in hte next couple of days. Who comes goes on and who comes off?

“I think over the next 24-48 hours, it’s possible we see that trade list altered,” says Elliotte Friedman on Dylan Larkin. Whether that means Larkin is more likely to take teams off the trade list than add teams remains to be seen. Thus far, no Canadian teams have made the cut. Will that change?

Friedman seemed to hint that Florida, Vegas, and Colorado can’t really make the trade. They either don’t have the desire, the assets, or the cap space. As such, those three teams could come off his list. Does that mean a team like Montreal could be added?

Why the pressing need to change the list? Larkin needs to be traded. This is no longer a situation where he wants a trade and is willing to be patient waiting for one. He’s pulled himself from the lineup, and every day he doesn’t play, he’s losing money. If the 10 teams on his list can’t or won’t make a deal, it’s time to revisit the list.

Who Remains on the List with Larkin Interest?

A statement from Pat Brisson, Larkin’s agent, regarding his client deciding not to play while awaiting a trade: “Dylan’s had enough of the situation. We believe he’s been very professional and cooperative through this process.” The problem is that his decision has added no pressure on the Red Wings. In fact, beyond the fact they aren’t as strong a team on the ice, his decision has made it easier for the Red Wings to wait.

Perhaps Larkin is hoping to motivate action among teams on the list and create a market via the teams he adds.

According to Pierre LeBrun, one of the Minnesota Wild’s offers for Larkin has included 2-3 first-round picks, and the Red Wings’ issue is that they don’t want a futures package and desire immediate NHL talent. The Washington Capitals have reportedly engaged in trade discussions “to some level,” but their offer might not be where it should be for the Red Wings to say yes. The New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes are also among the teams that have been engaged in talks with Detroit this week, per sources.

As for the Canadiens, it is believed that if he adds them, this trade could get done immediately. Some believe the Red Wings and Canadiens already have a deal in place. It just requires Larkin to get on board.
