Vladislav Namestnikov Joins the Red Wings in NHL Free Agency

The Detroit Red Wings signed two-way winger Vladislav Namestnikov to a two-year deal worth an average annual salary of $2 million.

The Detroit Red Wings are quickly moving to improve their team and drastically changing their roster in a hurry. GM Steve Yzerman stayed busy on Sunday, signing two-way winger Vladislav Namestnikov to a two-year deal worth an average annual salary of $2 million.

Namestnikov now gets a chance to play at home for the team he grew up cheering for.

It’s a good deal for the Red Wings, as the forward has multiple 30+ point seasons on his resume and is taking a big salary pay cut from the $4 million on his previous contract.

Namestnikov, 27, recorded 17 goals and 31 points in 65 games for the Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators. He seemed to acclimate himself well in all locations and rather quickly, so there shouldn’t be any concern he can’t come in produce for the Red Wings. He could be good for 20 goals which would be a steal at $2 million.

He’s smart defensively and will play on the penalty kill. This deal will take him to unrestricted free agency at 29 and he should be able to boost his numbers to the point where he gets a much better deal as a free agent in 2022.
