NHL Trade Talk Recap: Senators, Panthers, Canadiens & Oilers
Brady Tkachuk faces pressure in Florida, Canadiens fans try to win over Dylan Larkin, and Darnell Nurse fires back at Mark Spector.
Today’s NHL Trade Talk Recap for October 10, 2026, highlights some big personalities in today’s roundup. Brady Tkachuk is feeling the heat in Florida, Montreal fans are plotting a loud welcome for Dylan Larkin, and Darnell Nurse got in a good line before facing his old team.

Brady Tkachuk Got His Wish in Florida, and Now the Pressure’s Really On
Brady Tkachuk got the move he wanted, but the pressure didn’t disappear; it just changed. Florida paid a lot to get him, and with Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand both injured, they’re asking him to carry more than anyone planned. He hasn’t recorded a point through four games, and a bad year could make his extension talks next summer a lot trickier.
The piece argues the excuses are gone now. He’s playing with his brother, on a contender, in warm weather, and there’s no Canadian market to blame. He doesn’t have to be the leader, but he needs to show he’s a superstar. After the way things ended in Ottawa, plenty of people will be watching to see if he can deliver.

Should Habs Fans Cheer Larkin to Try to Win Him Over?
A Canadiens fan account is urging Montreal supporters to cheer “at the top of their lungs” every time Dylan Larkin touches the puck on Saturday, hoping to convince him to reconsider a trade to the Habs. The post drew tens of thousands of views, but the replies were split. Plenty of fans said Larkin has already shut the door on Montreal and that they shouldn’t be begging anyone, while others were happy to start a “we want Larkin” chant. In fact, the crowd did chant “We want Larkin” during the game, so the basic story happened.
Realistically, a loud crowd probably won’t change his mind. Larkin has a short list of teams in mind, and Montreal isn’t on it right now. It likely only becomes an option if he runs out of other choices, so the real storyline Saturday may be what kind of noise the Bell Centre actually makes.

Nurse Fires Back at Spector Ahead of His Return to Edmonton
Darnell Nurse is about to face his old team for the first time since San Jose took on his full $9.25M contract. And he’s already made headlines. Asked by Mark Spector, who spent years questioning his hockey sense, what felt different about playing in California, Nurse shot back, “With my low IQ, I don’t know if I’m able to answer your questions… next.”
It’s the kind of moment that sums up how his time in Edmonton ended. The contract and the criticism turned him into the easiest target in town. Now he’s a Shark, in the same division, and expect him to play with a chip on his shoulder every time he sees the Oilers.
