Canadiens Fans Taking Bold Steps to Manifest a Dylan Larkin Trade?
Canadiens fans are being urged to cheer Dylan Larkin when he touches the puck. Would something like this change his mind about Montreal?
Montreal fans have been handed a game plan for Saturday, and the reaction has been anything but unanimous. One fan took to X (Twitter) and hatched a plan to convince the disgruntled center from the Detroit Red Wings to reconsider his stance on accepting a trade to the Montreal Canadiens. The Red Wings play the Canadiens on Saturday night.
A post from Habs Chronicle on X, which drew more than 38,000 views in about a day, urged supporters to cheer “at the top of their lungs” whenever Dylan Larkin has the puck, whether or not the Canadiens trade rumors are true. “Regardless of whether any of the Larkin and Habs rumours or speculation is true, tomorrow Habs fans should be cheering at the top of their lungs every time he touches the puck,” they write. “Convince him to come here by any way necessary.”
Canadiens Fans Aren’t Biting
Many replies were skeptical. Several users said Larkin has already turned down the idea of playing in Montreal, with one asking whether the team has reached the point of begging a player who wants no part of it. Another argued he would likely ask out again, as he did in Detroit, especially with a reported desire to stay in the U.S. A third said the Habs should never be anyone’s second choice, and one fan asked why Larkin was being treated like Sidney Crosby, calling it a new low.
Not everyone was sold on him as a player either. One account said he might help attract American talent but that it wasn’t convincing.
Others were all in. One fan said he was attending the game and would start a “we want Larkin” chant himself, while another said hearing “Trade us Larkin” would be fun.
What Are the Chances Larkin Pivots Towards The Canadiens
There is always a chance that Larkin eventually looks at the Canadiens and reconsiders his stance on joining them. That can happen when a player gets into a different environment and realizes how much better it is than where they are. For Larkin, he’s done in Detroit. He’s decided that he needs a fresh start, and it seems like most options would be better, even if not every player on the Red Wings roster feels the same way.

That said, fans cheering for him in Montreal likely won’t sway him. It can’t hurt, but Larkin has his sights set on a handful of teams. Right now, the Canadiens aren’t one of them. Only when he runs out of options might Larkin open the door to places he’d previously turned down.
With the rumours unconfirmed, the fan base is stuck between enthusiasm and pride. Whether the Bell Centre actually makes noise, and what kind, may be the real storyline Saturday.
