The Maple Leafs could be planning to see Jack Roslovic as a possible next right-wing fit for Auston Matthews. The Flames might be circling Arber Xhekaj. And the Canucks are finally making progress on a long-dreamed new practice facility. However, local hockey folks still aren’t convinced it’ll actually help the community.

Jack Roslovic being around Toronto with Austin Matthews has Maple Leafs fans connecting the dots. There’s not much hard rumour sauce about him being a true top-line right-wing fit, but the friendship and history make it feel like it could actually happen.

It’s not “Marner 2.0. It’s more like chemistry, timing, and someone who can score while still doing the basics to help Matthews. If Toronto isn’t rushing for some perfect splashy winger, going with a “this could work” option like Roslovic might be exactly the plan.

Flames in on Xhekaj, or Just More Rumour?

Calgary might be one of the teams sniffing around Arber Xhekaj, with reports saying they’ve had interest for a while. He’s a big, physical, defensively minded defenceman. That’s exactly the kind of piece lots of teams want. And it sounds like the Flames could see that value.

But lately it also feels like “maybe not.” Calgary reportedly added Jake Middleton, who plays a similar stay-at-home role, and that could cool the need (and the willingness to give up assets). Plus, Montreal isn’t exactly treating Xhekaj like an easy giveaway—if he moves, they’ll want a real return. So right now Calgary looks more on the lukewarm side, with Philadelphia (or someone else) potentially having the clearer path.

Canucks Might Finally Land a New Practice Spot

The Canucks and the City of Vancouver just signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to look at building a new practice facility at Britannia Community Services Centre (right by the existing Britannia Ice Rink). It’s a big deal for a team that’s been practicing in a patchwork of places, because Vancouver’s the only NHL team without a permanent practice facility.

But of course, locals aren’t fully buying it yet. Some community hockey groups are worried it could take advantage of existing rink space without actually adding much-needed new ice for minors. Others think the plan could still be a win if it expands access. So there’s progress, maybe. Still, it’s very “wait and see” in true Vancouver fashion.
