Host Tears Into Senators Over Brady Tkachuk Return Video, Fans React
The Ottawa Senators have decided to honor Brady Tkachukw itha video upon his return to the city, but not everyone is excited about the idea.
The Ottawa Senators intend to honor Brady Tkachuk with a tribute video when he returns back to play against the Senators this season, but now as a member of the Florida Panthers. Trying to do the classy thing, it’s an interesting decision because Tkachuk essentially abandoned the team and the city for a chance to play with his brother, after months and months of telling everyone he had no intention of leaving.
The idea of the video hasn’t gone over well with everyone, and Sid Seixeiro went off this week, telling the Senators to rethink their decision. “How many Sens fans are going to be there on October 21st and go home and say, ‘I’m really disappointed that we didn’t honor the coward that demanded his way out of town back on June the 21st.” He then got heated and said, “Man this pis— me off. Not everyone deserves the video. They don’t care about you! Why do you care about their video? It’s pathetic! This stuff has to end, across the board, in all sports!”
“Brady Tkachuk was done with you 18 months ago, and you knew it! And you knew it!… Do not honour this guy. He spit in everyone’s face. He lied to you on the way out. Don’t thank him with a video!”
Fans Reacted To The Idea of Not Honoring Brady Tkachuk
Since he rants and raves for the simple fact that he can, and it attracts viewers, it’s not often that fans agree with Seixeiro’s takes. This time, he got a lot of support. Many fans believed that the Senators should not honor their former captain because of the way he treated the team and the city.
Some actually said they should do a video, but fans should simply turn their backs on the screen or not react.

“How about a video of all the times he said he was committed to Ottawa? Just kidding. They’ll have a video but the best reaction would be complete silence and no applause,” wrote one fan. Another added, “He deserves the video for the community work he did, and the Sens org is too classy not to have a video. But that will not stop the “BABY BROTHER” chants and boos from ringing through the CTC.”
One fan suggested the Senators, and Canadians in general, were too classy. “Sid, the majority of Sens fans are not happy about it. I think deep down, as Canadians, the team wants to do what seems right. But don’t let that fool you, fans aren’t interested and don’t give a crap. It won’t go well; many fans talked about turning around and not honoring it.”
What say you? Should the Senators give Brady Tkachuk a video tribute? Or should they take a stand and be among the first teams to stand up and say, ‘The way you treated this organization, the city, and its fans on the way out does not deserve a video ‘?
