Host: Parros ‘Clearly Had it Out for the Leafs’ in Biased Gudas Suspension

Did George Parros rule against the Toronto Maple Leafs because he was ruling against his old team, the Anaheim Ducks?

George Parros, the current head of the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, has found himself under fire for his ruling on Auston Matthews’ recent incident. What many fans are pointing out, and podcast host Sid Seixeiro ranted about on Monday, is hard to ignore: Parros spent 75% of his NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks, the very team involved in the game in question.

Critics are now questioning whether his ties to Anaheim clouded his judgment and undermined the credibility of the league’s disciplinary process.

Seixeiro argued, “Do any of you know how many games George Parros played in his career? I can tell you—474. Do you know what percentage of those games were with the Anaheim Ducks, the team involved last Thursday? Seventy-five percent.”

He went on to say:

“Parros is now ruling on an incident involving a team he spent most of his NHL career with. I’d bet he still has relationships there—I’m just guessing. This reeks, this decision. It reeks. And George Parros doesn’t have the background to have anyone trust him on it. He is clearly going for the Ducks in this decision. He has clearly had it out for the Leafs for years, and I am not a conspiracy guy when it comes to the Leafs—they do enough damage to themselves.—but George Parros is the last guy on earth who should be making this decision with the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s obscene that a guy who played 75% of his career with Anaheim is judging that Matthews decision.”

He added that this entire process has zero credibility as long as he’s in that role. “The Department of Player Safety is a joke.” They need a completely independent arbitrator to make these decisions. They need fresh eyes, someone who has never played the game at a professional level, he added.

Claiming the bias on that decision and how quickly it was made that Gudas wouldn’t get more than five games, Seixerio adds, “This has not worked in my lifetime, this department has missed the boat eight times out of 10. The Connor McDavid of this world “are scared, you know what about what’s going to happen to them.”
