Teams Low-balling Flames on Sam Bennett

There are teams interested in acquiring Sam Bennett from the Calgary Flames but the offers have been far too low to consider.

According to Elliotte Friedman in his latest 31 Thoughts article, the Calgary Flames have a player other teams might want.

As the Flames were going through a terrible stretch of hockey and before all the drama unfolded with Bill Peters stepping down as coach of the team, a few other organizations were kicking tires on Sam Bennett. More realistically, these teams were trying to poach one of the Flames young assets.

According to Friedman, the offers for Bennett were lowball pitches that the Flames balked at. Friedman notes the Flames laughed at the trade proposals and never considered any of them, even though there is speculation the organization might be looking to make a move or two.

Who Was Offering?

There was no confirmation from Friedman as to which teams were calling the Flames and trying to take them for a ride while acquiring a decent depth-player with some scoring potential. That said, speculation is that the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators might have been among the teams interested.

As for when Bennett will get back into the lineup for the Flames, Geoff Ward says Bennett is “getting close.” The team is targeting Dec. 10 as a possible return date, but obviously that could change.
