Stars Trade Replacement Options For Injured Tyler Seguin
The Dallas Stars are looking for a replacement for the injured Tyler Seguin, and there are a couple of options via trade.
It was reported last week by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun that the Dallas Stars were looking for a trade replacement for the injured Tyler Seguin. While they’ll work with what they have internally for now, it looks like they will be hitting the market to look for an external option. As Elliotte Friedman said, they are in a position where they could potentially add toward the end of the season at the trade deadline, hopefully getting Seguin back for the playoffs.
Friedman said the Stars are going to “gear up.”
With each passing day, a new forward name floats around in rumors. The Stars do have options that they can target. Dallas plays a tough game; they are good defensively and can put the puck in the net. Additionally, with them being a veteran team, they will need the right fit in their lineup. So, who is that exactly?
Brock Nelson – New York Islanders
Brock Nelson makes a lot of sense. He isn’t an ego-driven player; he is a veteran who can easily fit into just about any team’s system. Nelson, 33, has been with the New York Islanders organization since 2012-13, and while the Stars have a younger team, they are similar to the Islanders organization, which should make the change easier for Nelson.
Nelson has 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points in 30 games. Over the last two seasons, he has had 69 points (2023-24) and 75 points (2022-23). He could jump into the Stars’ top six and make an immediate impact.
Alex Tuch – Buffalo Sabres
Although Alex Tuch‘s name hasn’t been thrown around a ton, his fit with the Buffalo Sabres makes sense. Firstly, they are off to a terrible start to the season and may want to shake things up. Yes, Tuch is a local kid who wants to play for the organization. But that doesn’t mean he can’t re-sign with the Sabres in the off-season after he is traded. Why would Buffalo want to hold onto an asset as good as him and have him potentially walk away for nothing?
They wouldn’t, and for Tuch, being traded to a team as good as the Stars would be ideal. They have one of the best chances to win the Stanley Cup this season. The way he plays the game fits with the Stars. He plays a heavy game; he can put up points. In 29 games, the 28-year-old has eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points.
