The Edmonton Oilers made an interesting decision on Sunday. They have recalled Ryan McLeod from the Bakersfield Condors to the taxi squad. The 21-year-old forward has tallied 14 goals, 14 assists & is +23 in 28 games with Bakersfield this season. He sits 3rd in the AHL for goals with 14, 5th in points with 28 and he’s first in the league at Plus/Minus: +23.
This is a player who has NHL size, NHL speed and offers strong two-way play. His NHLe this season is 37 points, roughly on par with Kailer Yamamoto and he’s excelling at C in the AHL. Quarantine is only seven days now and with the playoffs around the corner, it will be interesting to see if the Oilers have a specific plan here.
Bob Stauffer writes, “A deserved recall! McLeod has 14-14-28/+25 in his last 23 GP. Has gone 54.1% on faceoffs last 10 GP. Could play as early as next Monday in Winnipeg.”
