Big Change Suggests New Level of Urgency Around Trocheck Trade from Rangers

Vincent Trocheck made a big change in his professional life, which could suggest a new level of urgency about a trade from the Rangers.

The New York Rangers may be inching closer to a significant offseason decision involving veteran center Vincent Trocheck, and a recent agency change could help make that trade possible.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, Trocheck has switched representation to Pat Brisson of CAA, one of the NHL’s most influential player agents. Dreger writes, “Trochek was a target of trade speculation heading into the Deadline, so this change will fuel more of that in the days ahead. Lots of teams interested.”

Brisson is well known for helping clients navigate trades and helping players wind up in their preferred landing spots.

Trocheck, 32, is under contract through the 2028-29 season on a seven-year deal carrying a $5.625 million cap hit. In an era of a rising salary cap, that figure is considered team-friendly, particularly for a player coming off a solid 2025-26 campaign that saw him produce around 53 points while continuing to excel in faceoffs and penalty killing.

Rangers’ general manager Chris Drury explored the trade market for Trocheck at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline but ultimately held off when offers failed to meet the team’s asking price. That stance hasn’t changed significantly as New York remains open to moving him, but wants a solid return if they’re going to do so.

Who Is Interested and What’s the Return for Trocheck?

The Rangers are likely to get a good package back, given the lack of real options in free agency. Several teams are believed to have interest, including the Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, and Boston Bruins.

Trocheck also holds some control over his future. He maintains a modified no-trade clause (10-team no-trade list) and is believed to prefer staying in the Eastern Conference.

As for what the Rangers might be looking for, it’s likely a young NHL-ready player, along with prospects or draft picks. That could lead the team to try to get this deal done before the NHL Draft, and the change of agents suggests there’s a new level of urgency.

No deal appears imminent, but a couple of trades have already taken place in the days following the Stanley Cup win by the Carolina Hurricanes. Business seems to be picking up, and Trocheck’s name is expected to remain firmly in the spotlight as one of the league’s most intriguing trade candidates.
