Insider Says There’s a Chance an Adam Fantilli Offer Sheet Could Be Coming

There hasn’t been any more offer sheet chaos in the aftermath of the Leo Carlsson situation, however, recent developments could result in a big one potentially coming soon.

With Jet Greaves in ongoing arbitration and Cole Sillinger soon to follow, what does that mean for Adam Fantilli, the clear-cut best offer sheet-eligible player left on the market? Insider David Pagnotta is starting to hear rumblings that teams around the league could potentially pounce on the opportunity to pry the 2023 third-overall pick away from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Pagnotta said:

“If we’re seeing Sillinger in the 4 to 5 range and Greaves in the 5 to 6 range, all of a sudden you’re looking at around $10 million, $11 million for those guys, and that’s dropping their cap space down to the 13 mark. The reason why I’m bringing that up is, are other teams that are lurking going to look at this situation and go, they don’t have a deal yet, Fantilli and the Blue Jackets, they’ve got other business to attend to, and one of them being pressing given the arb situation with Greaves. There are teams looking at this situation going, maybe this is an opportunity to pounce here with respect to the whole offer sheet business. Now, I didn’t anticipate that a few weeks ago, but it is something that some teams are at least considering now,”

The 21-year-old Fantilli is an RFA having just played out the three-year, $2.85 million entry-level contract he signed with the Blue Jackets upon being drafted in 2023. He put up a career-high 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 82 games played last season.

Detroit, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh are among those that currently have more than $13 million in cap space.

The Kraken and, of course, the Flyers stand out as two teams that could make such a bold move, both of whom we’ve seen attempt similar big swings that didn’t come to fruition earlier in the offseason.

Fantilli would still need to actually be willing to sign the offer sheet as well, but the longer this drags out, the more likely the possibility of that happening becomes.
