Robertson Rejects 8-Year, $15M AAV Sign-and-Trade — Stars Seeking Trade
Find out why Jason Robertson turned down the Kraken trade offer and what this means for his relationship with the Stars.
Jason Robertson isn’t heading to the Pacific Northwest — at least not on Seattle’s terms.
The Kraken made an aggressive run at the Dallas Stars winger, tabling an eight-year offer worth $15 million annually after the Stars granted Robertson permission to speak with Seattle. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Robertson rejected the offer. He adds, “Neither the Stars nor the Kraken agreed to comment, nor did Robertson’s representative, Andy Scott.”
It’s unclear what the return would have been from Seattle, but it must have been strong enough that the Stars were willing to move forward.
Now Dallas is moving quickly to keep its options open. Pierre LeBrun writes:
“Further to what @FriedgeHNIC reported on Jason Robertson rejecting a contract offer from Seattle, the Stars now are circling back to teams that had shown interest in the winger. Plus, still keeping dialogue open on trying to sign him. Trying to keep all avenues open.”
This is bound to get interesting over the next 24 hours. With Seattle now out of the picture, other suitors will have noted the $15 million AAV rejection is likely where offers will have to start on an extension.

Robertson is one of the premier goal scorers in the league. However this plays out, the next few days could define Dallas’s offseason entirely. Friedman adds, “It’s hard to say what’s next for the Stars and their 40-goal winger, who are believed to be at least $2 million apart per season. Their top contract is Mikko Rantanen at $12 million per year, and the hope was Robertson would come somewhere around that number.”
Clearly, that’s not going to be the case, even if they likely wouldn’t have to offer $15 million to retain him.
