The Edmonton Oilers have extended the contract of forward Josh Archibald on Friday. The deal, according to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug is worth $1.5 million per season over the next two seasons.

Rishaug writes, “This is a solid deal for both sides.” Noting that Archibald brings a lot to the table and can play in various spots, this season, he’s been one of Edmonton’s best penalty killers, he’s potted 12 goals and he’s played up and down the lineup on almost every line at one point or another.

“My sense is if Oilers make playoffs he will be very useful as the pace goes up,” Rishaug said. And, he may be right as Archibald, despite his size, is bread for the postseason with his physical style of play, speed and willingness to engage.

Just a few minutes ago, the Edmonton Oilers confirmed the signing on their official page. They wrote, “ARCHIE! TWO MORE YEARS!”
