A trade sending Erik Gudbranson out of Pittsburgh has been rumored for some time as the Penguins were looking to move out a d-man. The Anaheim Ducks have announced they’ve acquired the blueliner in a late afternoon trade Friday.
In exchange, the Penguins will receive left wing Andreas Martinsen and a 2021 seventh-round draft pick.
This is primarily a cap move for the Penguins as Gudbranson was making $4 million per season.
Gudbranson, 27, has played in 474 career games spending time with the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks and Penguins. This season, he’s appeared in seven games for the Pens.
