Cody Ceci Returns to Oilers Lineup Thursday vs. Boston Bruins

The Edmonton Oilers will get right-shot defenseman Cody Ceci back in the lineup tonight versus the Boston Bruins.

The Edmonton Oilers got some good news on Thursday as defenseman Cody Cecil was symptom-free from COVID, back on the ice at practice, and will play versus the Boston Bruins as the Oilers try to snap a three-game losing streak. It was said the Oilers would see where he was at after the skate today and it looks like he’s good to go and will play in a pairing with Kris Russell.

This is more good news for the Oilers who recently got Darnell Nurse back in their lineup and have only one single win over the Pittsburgh Penguins since Ceci was pulled and entered into COVID protocol. Ceci’s last game was November 27th and his absence came at a time when the Oilers were already down a number of key blueliners.

Ceci joined the Oilers this offseason and effectively replaced Adam Larsson who signed with the Seattle Kraken as an unrestricted free agent. There were questions about whether or not Ceci could effectively fill that role and while he’s not exactly the same type of player, he’s been a nice addition for Edmonton.

The Oilers will now be able to roll out at least one veteran in each pairing and that’s important if the Oilers want to keep pace in the Pacific Division.
