Canucks’ GM Talks About Status Of Miller and Boeser Trades
Vancouver Canucks’ GM Patrick Allvin has commented on the status of trades that might include JT Miller and Brock Boeser.
There are plenty of rumors surrounding the Vancouver Canucks. Many of them center around trades the team might make prior to the NHL Trade Deadline, with J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser moves listed as potential deals that top the list of moves to watch. But, according to the GM of the Canucks, neither trade is one he’s going to make without serious thought and a move to send Miller elsewhere seems just as likely as it does Miller sticks around.

Patrick Allvin talked about the speculation and noted that when it comes to Miller, he’s not trading the player unless the reasons to vastly outweigh the reasons to hang onto a central part of their team. Allvin told Rick Dhaliwal, “I am not going to trade a player just for the media. J.T. has been our most consistent and best player.” Talk lately is that the Canucks are pulling back on the idea of moving the forward and might be more prone to offering him an extension.
Meanwhile, when it came to Boeser, the buzz is that his next contract will play a major role in what happens. Allvin commented there too, seemingly confirming reports that the Canucks might deal the forward if they can’t come to terms on an extension. Dhaliwal quoted the GM: “He is a really really good player, he is a goal scorer. We will see where it goes with his camp.” Meaning, the two sides are talking but it’s too soon to say where those talks are leading.

Canucks Have Time
The belief is that the Canucks know they aren’t in a rush to make a decision. For Miller, he’s got time left on his contract and the organization believes he’ll still have trade value if they elect to move him this offseason. For Boeser, the timeline is a little less clear as the RFA has a qualifying offer due to him upon an extension and it’s a hefty one. He is arbitration-eligible so that poses a bit of a time crunch for the Canucks.
