Buckle Up: Insider Sees Two More Tkachuk-Level Trades Coming

Don’t expect the Brady Tkachuk trade to be the last blockbuster we see this week.

The hockey world is still trying to grasp the fact that Brady Tkachuk is now a Florida Panther following Sunday night’s blockbuster trade with the Ottawa Senators.

We’re not even 24 hours removed from the shocking deal, yet it sounds like it’s only the beginning of what could be a wild NHL offseason.

According to insider David Pagnotta, this won’t be the only massive trade we see this summer. In fact, he expects two more deals of similar significance to the Tkachuk trade to happen this week.

Pagnotta said:

“I’m not going to be shocked if we see something out of left field, but I would imagine on the Brady Tkachuk level we’re probably looking at at least two more deals this week of that magnitude,”

The 26-year-old Tkachuk was, of course, dealt from Ottawa to Florida for a package of future assets that included three first-round picks — two in 2026 and one in 2029 — along with a 2027 second-round pick.

Dylan Larkin and Connor Hellebuyck are two obvious candidates who could be on the move, while Zach Werenski’s name has also started to surface as a superstar trade possibility.

Auston Matthews, on the other hand, feels more likely to remain in Toronto for at least this upcoming season given the Maple Leafs’ aggressiveness in trying to return to contention. That said, at this point it feels like nothing can be completely ruled out.

As Pagnotta mentioned, there could also be a move that comes entirely out of left field, so hockey fans should be prepared for anything as we enter the busiest stretch of the NHL offseason with the draft and free agency looming.

Fans have often been let down in the past by predictions of a summer filled with blockbuster trades and major activity. This time, however, feels different, and the Tkachuk deal may be the clearest sign yet that it is.
