Zegras Injury News Bad, But Better Than Originally Feared
Elliotte Friedman reported a Trevor Zegras injury update Anaheim Ducks. The forward will be out for six weeks.
Elliotte Friedman has provided an update on Trevor Zegras and his injury situation. Thursday afternoon, the NHL insider reported: “Zegras had surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He’s out six weeks. It’s actually much, much better than was initially feared. So good news for Zegras and the Ducks, thankfully.”

Ducks fans held their breath last Wednesday night as Trevor Zegras suffered a concerning injury during the second period. The 23-year-old star fell awkwardly after being bumped on a defensive zone faceoff, with his right leg appearing to collapse under him. Zegras immediately called for assistance, unable to bear weight on the leg.
It appeared to be a freak accident rather than intentional, adding to the unfortunate nature of the play. Ducks fans now anxiously await updates on Zegras’ condition.
Zegras Will Be Back Ahead of the Playoffs and Trade Deadline
While the severity of the injury means the team will be without him for some time, he will be back ahead of the playoffs. What that means for the Ducks and LTIR or trying to find someone via trade remains to be seen. There was talk that the Ducks might look to move Zegras ahead of this season’s trade deadline. That is still possible with today’s injury update, but it may be a harder sell to trade for a player coming back from an injury just weeks ahead of the deadline.
Zegras has 10 points in 24 games this season, including seven points in his last nine appearances. He collected his 100th career NHL assist earlier this season.
