There’s a rumor going around the Internet that James Ellsworth might be returning to the WWE. It was first reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com that Ellsworth would make an appearance at this Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. That news was met with interesting feedback considering he’s not much of a WWE Superstar in terms of drawing power for WWE. But, prior to his release, he was instrumental in Carmella’s run as a single’s competitor on SmackDown Live, helping her achieve the Money in the Bank briefcase a year ago that eventually led to her cashing in her contract and becoming SmackDown Live Women’s Champion. If he is set to return, the storyline would write itself.
There is, however, a potential snag. Ellsworth tweeted a promotional poster of himself committed to a show in China for the same date. Yes, the time zones are quite different and technically he might be able to make it, but it seems like a stretch.

Carmella is in over her head when it comes to needing to defend her title against Asuka on Sunday and Ellsworth would be a huge help. If he does return, there is no word yet on whether or not it would be a longer-term situation or a one-shot deal to help Carmella get through her match.
