Dana White Says CM Punk Is Done In UFC

CM Punk is finished in UFC, or so says Dana White who suggested Punk is a great guy but should wrap it up.

After a second loss in the UFC, it looks like CM Punk’s career with that company is over. On Saturday, Punk lost to Mike Jackson in a bout that was embarrassing for Punk, embarrassing for Jackson and, most importantly, embarrassing for the UFC.  Most viewers know the fight should have never been promoted to the main card despite the draw Punk’s name might have because now everyone knows the UFC is willing to put garbage on a pay-per-view in exchange for buys which UFC President Dana White says he immediately regrets.

Punk is now 0-2 and having proved he doesn’t belong anywhere near a UFC main card, Punk will now have to determine what’s next. That decision got a little easier with White’s declaration that his future won’t be in the UFC. Actually, White made two announcements, one suggesting Punk should wrap it up and another labeling Jackson an idiot and a goof for not trying to finish Punk in the fight. White was embarrassed and it looks like both guys have burnt their final bridges.

In regards to Punk, “No, it should be a wrap,” he told reporters after the event (H/T MMA Junkie). “The guy’s 39 years old. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight, and I think he should call it a wrap.” By Punk’s tweet on Sunday, it’s difficult to know how he’s feeling about it all.

In regards to Jackson, White said, “Michael Jackson I’m not happy with. This guy was acting like a goofball tonight. You get this opportunity to fight CM Punk, and you’re doing, like, bolo punches to the body on top. Never looked like he was trying to finish the fight ever. Looked like he could have finished the fight a few times. Never tried. I don’t know what that guy did for a living before we gave him the shot, but whatever it was, he needs to go back and do that again. He’s 0-2 as far as I’m concerned. I got the sense that he’s a complete f***ing idiot, and I couldn’t wait for that fight to end, and I regretted not putting that fight on Fight Pass. That’s how I felt about that fight.”

Nothing like both guys going down in a stink bomb so thick that it made UFC look like a total joke for nearly 15 minutes.

What people will be watching for now is whether or not Punk reconsiders his stance on his wrestling career and whether or not he’s really done with it. He said he was, but that was before he looked like a fighter completely out of his element.
