Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Joey Anderson to 3-Yr Deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs officialky announce that they had signed restricted free agent, Joey Anderson to a three-year contract.

After announcing news the team had inked Michael Hutchinson to a two-way deal, the Toronto Maple Leafs were in the news again, this time with an official announcement that they had signed restricted free agent, Joey Anderson to a three-year contract. Like Hutchinson, the deal is two-way deal, but only for the first two seasons. In the third, Anderson will be called up and stay up if he’s still with the club on one-way pact. The deal carries an annual value of $750K at the NHL level.

Anderson was acquired in a trade that saw Andreas Johnsson head to the New Jersey Devils. That he committed to a three-year deal could represent a huge value win if he progresses the way the Maple Leafs hope he will. Anderson was the final RFA remaining on the Leafs reserve list and this signing now puts them at 46 contracts out of the max 50.

Anderson, 22, was a third-round pick in 2016 and had played in 52 NHL games with the Devils. He’s not going to be a regular but he did score eight goals and 13 points in limited minutes last season.
