Ryan McDonagh Will Miss Game 4 for Lightning

Defenseman Ryan McDonagh will miss Game 4 for the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday as the Bolts try to close out the series.

Multiple reports note that the Tampa Bay Lightning will have to and eliminate the Boston Bruins on Monday in Game 4 without the services of veteran defenseman Ryan McDonagh.

According to The Athletic’s Joe Smith, McDonagh, who has been out since suffering an undisclosed injury in Game 1, is not ready to return and will be replaced with two defensemen. The Lighting are expected to active Braydon Coburn and Luke Schenn as the team will go with seven defensemen.

McDonagh, 31, left Game 1 early in the third period after getting caught up with Connor Clifton. McDonagh returned to the game, but his next shift lasted only 15 seconds before leaving and not returning again. He has not been back since.

Amazingly, the Lightning have been able to go up 3-1 in the series on the Presidents’ Trophy Winning Bruins without his services and will look to close things out on Monday night. For Boston, getting off to a strong start in that game will be key.
