Predators With Another Huge Hire, Bring in Rob Blake
Nashville Predators hire Rob Blake as Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, marking a new chapter for the team.
Just hours after hiring Chris MacFarland to be the GM and President of Hockey Operations, the Nashville Predators have announced they have hired Rob Blake as the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.
“We are ecstatic to welcome Rob Blake to the Nashville Predators as our executive vice president of hockey operations,” MacFarland said. “Rob is a two-time Stanley Cup winner, member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and a legend of our game. Additionally, he brings a wealth of knowledge in management, and I will rely on him to assist me in many areas across the department as we look to build a winning team in Smashville. I couldn’t think of a better person to join me and the organization on this journey.”
Per the Preds, Blake will oversee team and staff development, long and short-term strategies, free agency, player recruitment, drafting, and more.
TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reports, “Blake had talked to Chris MacFarland during the season about maybe joining him in Colorado next season. Instead, he joins him in Nashville. Excellent hire by the Preds who are on a roll.”

“Looking forward to digging under the hood here and getting to know the internal people and starting the journey to build something special,” said Blake after the announcement was made.
It will be interesting to see what kind of change this new management team makes in Nashville. The team underperformed after former GM Barry Trotz took some big swings. Do MacFarland and Blake hang onto the big names? Or, do they start to shop pieces like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault?
