Oilers to Reevaluate Goaltending This Summer, Says GM
The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to make improvements in goal this summer, with GM Stan Bowman hinting at changes with Jarry and Ingram.
When asked if the Edmonton Oilers are confident in their goaltending and what the plan will be given that the club only has Tristan Jarry under contract, general manager Stan Bowman confirmed that the goaltending situation will be reevaluated this offseason.
Speaking with the media on Saturday, Bowman admitted that the plan this season didn’t work out as the organization had hoped.
“So, we have to evaluate that, and that’s going to be part of the process over the next little bit when we talk to our coaches and look at what we want to do,” said Bowman.
When discussing Connor Ingram, Bowman noted, “I think Connor came in and, you know, he played pretty well for us. I think he was really just getting his game in order in the American League when Tristan got hurt, and he came up. By the time we got to the playoffs, Connor had shown that he’d taken some big steps and had gotten his game to a pretty good place.”

As for Jarry, the situation there wasn’t as positive.
Bowman explained:
“Tristan, it didn’t work out very well for him. I thought he started really well with us, and then he got that injury and never seemed to really recapture his confidence or his performance from before. So that’s something we have to evaluate—what happened there. Things were looking good, it was only a few games, and then he got hurt. It was in Boston, and then he missed time. When he came back, he didn’t have his game, and at that point in the season it was tough to let him work his way through it.”
As for the overall goaltending situation, “I would say we have to evaluate where that’s going to end up. I don’t have that information yet, but we’re definitely looking for improvement in that area.”
