Bill Guerin talked about the Quinn Hughes negotiations this week. He said that money probably isn’t the driving factor and that Hughes could prioritize other things instead. That’s a pretty glaring omission for a guy supposedly laying out all the possible factors.

If Hughes really does want out to join his brothers, Minnesota’s stuck in a tough spot. They could push for a short-term deal, let him test the market, or start thinking about a trade. Guerin’s basically admitted the ball is in Hughes’ court. He said that the Wild can plan all they want. But at the end of the day, Hughes has to tell them what he actually wants.

Would Hellebuyck Actually Say Yes to Edmonton?

Everyone assumed Connor Hellebuyck’s public trade request meant he was chasing an American market, following the same path as other USA Olympic guys. But according to Jets reporter Sean Reynolds, that might be the wrong read entirely. He thinks Hellebuyck would genuinely consider Edmonton, because winning a Cup matters more to him than which country he’s playing in. That’s a big deal, especially since Winnipeg’s whole plan hinges on believing their aging core still has a real run left in them. At the same time, Hellebuyck himself doesn’t seem convinced.

On paper, this fit just makes sense. Edmonton’s got McDavid, Draisaitl, and a Cup window that’s wide open — the one thing they’ve been missing for years is a true number-one goalie. If they’d had that in 2024 or 2025, there’s a real chance a banner’s already hanging. But Oilers fans know this risk all too well. Hellebuyck’s regular-season numbers are elite, sure, but his playoff résumé is shakier. So handing him $8.5 million a year for five more seasons isn’t a lock — it’s a gamble.

Evander Kane Is Firing Back — And It’s Not Helping His Job Search

Evander Kane didn’t take kindly to an ex-teammate calling him a nightmare in the room. And he’s now teasing that he’s got his own “receipts” to drop whenever he feels like it. Kurtis Gabriel’s original story painted a pretty wild picture. Kane showing up late in flip-flops, disrespecting teammates, general chaos. When Kane fired back cryptically online, Gabriel doubled down with an even stranger follow-up story involving sabotaged sticks, a pizza, and Kane basically no-showing his own shift.

The timing on this couldn’t be worse for Kane.
