NHL Rumors: Wilson, Bruins, Flyers, More

In an NHL news and rumors update, there are details on what got Tom Wilson so fired up, the Flyers interested in someone on waivers and why Bruins’ fans are livid about changes to TD Gardens arena.

In an NHL news and rumors update, there are more details coming to light about the ejection for Tom Wilson in Washington’s game versus the Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins fans are up in arms over a change to TD Gardens arena and the Philadelphia Flyers might be interested in picking up a Montreal Canadiens forward placed on waivers.

Not Players That Got Wilson Fired Up

After the game that saw Wilson get ejected, he suggested his heated response came because the coaches were giving him an earful while he was in front of the Hurricanes bench.

Wilson spoke to reporters and claims he was being chirped by a coach, and while he didn’t name names, the assumption is that coach was Rod Brind’amour. Wilson explained:

“I was pretty calm until some words came from their bench and it wasn’t the players so we’ll leave it at that. He’s clearly an emotional guy but I don’t think, you ask anyone around the league, coaches chirping players is appropriate.”

As you can see from the tweet above, it was not just Wilson who made these comments. Capitals head coach Todd Reirden wasn’t a fan of the coaches yapping at his player, especially considering coaches can’t back up what they say to players.

As per Samantha Pell’s coverage, Reirden said:

“That is something that I strongly, strongly disagree with is a coaching talking to a player from the other team and I had some comments for their bench as I walked off between periods. You don’t get a chance to play anymore when you are a coach so you shouldn’t be talking to someone who is playing and to me, that is off-limits and that is something I have always believed as a player, as a coach. No coaches should be yelling at players from teams because you have no chance to go out and do anything about it and hockey is a special game and in respect to the battle and the compete and enthusiasm and all the passion that is out there, but it is for the players and when the coaches get involved, to me that is wrong”

Bruins Fans Upset About Particular Part of Building Renos

There’s properly planning the alterations of construction of an arena, and then there’s what it sounds like Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs has done. Fans are livid over the new seating arrangements in the renovated TD Gardens arena, thanks to newly cramped seating so that the building could add an additional 400 seats to the complex.

A number of fans are claiming to be leaving games early because they are so uncomfortable. How many fans are experiencing the same issue is unclear but it sounds like it’s more than just the Lodge section of the arena.

It hasn’t happened yet, but there are reports that the Philadelphia Flyers may put in a claim to grab Charles Hudon off of waivers.

Philly.com’s Sam Carchidi reports that the Flyers are interested in the former Montreal Canadiens’ forward and says Flyers’ assistant coach Michel Therrien was a big fan of Hudon when he coached with the Canadiens. Hudon, 25, played 32 games for Montreal last season and scored 10 goals and 30 points in 2017-18.
