More Rumors on the Rangers
Larry Brooks of the New York Post says the Tampa Bay Lightning might have their eyes on Rangers defenseman Adam McQuaid. He also notes general manager Jeff Gorton is talking contract extension with Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello.

That said, the contract terms are a point of contention and Brooks suggests it is more likely the two players are traded.
What’s actually going on in New York with these two players?
Senators Need a Duchene Decision
Sooner or late the Ottawa Senators are going to need a decision from Matt Duchene when it comes to whether or not he wants to sign and extension. Bob McKenzie was on Montreal’s TSN 690 and said, “Ottawa didn’t want to say to Duchene, ‘Okay, you’ve got until Tuesday at noon or we’re going to trade you.’” Unfortunately, time is running out and he added, “at some point here Ottawa has obviously gone back to the notion of trying to trade him, and that’s what Dregs basically reported.”

Ottawa will have their trade plans ready to go and then will come back to Duchene in the final hours and ask if he’s sure he doesn’t want to sign. If he doesn’t commit, the team will trade him.
Islanders Could Move Their First-Round Pick
The Fourth Period is reporting the New York Islanders might be willing to move their first-round pick this year for one of Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene, Mark Stone, Eric Staal, Gustav Nyquist or Ilya Kovalchuk. Word is they have kicked tires mostly on Duchene.
Also with the Islanders, Andrew Gross of Newsday is reporting that contract talks with pending UFAs Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, and Jordan Eberle, haven’t really taken place but each player has their own opinion about where things are headed.
