Predators Interested in Canucks’ Forward Adam Gaudette

The Nashville Predators are reportedly interested in trading for Vancouver Canucks’ forward Adam Gaudette.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet writes in his latest 31 Thoughts column that the Nashville Predators are one of the teams interested in Adam Gaudette. While it was earlier reported that the Vancouver Canucks were shopping the forward, it was believed no teams had really responded favorably to his availability.

Gaudette, 24 seemed to have a breakthrough season last year for the Canucks as he scored 33 points in 59 games. But, once the postseason came, he practically disappeared and had zero points in 10 games. This season, he’s not off to a great start either as he’s got just two points over the course of 12 games. That is likely what has scared teams off, but the Predators seem to believe he can get some of that scoring touch back.

Gaudette is not an expensive bet should the Predators take a shot. He’s only making $950K on his contract this season and will be an arbitration-eligible RFA in the summer. The team can walk away if he produces little to nothing over the next 40 games.

Gaudette Has Played a Bit Better Of Late

There is a chance he could play well as he was buzzing on Monday and responded well to recently being benched. His line with Brandon Sutter and Justin Bailey was strong. They were put together again for Wednesday’s practice.

Friedman also noted that Jake Virtanen and Olli Juolevi might be available out of Vancouver as well. We’ve reported of Virtanen’s availability in the past, with the Boston Bruins potentially being an interested team.
