Mikko Koivu Mysteriously Missing From Blue Jackets Lineup
Mikko Koivu is not listed on the Columbus Blue Jackets roster for opening night. The team would not disclose why.
There’s some interesting news coming out of Columbus on Wednesday as newly-signed veteran forward Mikko Koivu isn’t expected to play against Nasvhille Predators in the team’s opening game on January 14th. The roster that was released for the Blue Jackets, but it doesn’t have Koivu listed. He’s not listed on the taxi squad either.

Aaron Portzline of The Athletic tweeted, “Told #CBJ center Mikko Koivu (undisclosed) will miss Thursday’s opener in Nashville.” No information was given beyond that. John Tortorella spoke with the media via Zoom on Wednesday morning, and said Koivu would not travel with the team to Nashville.
The lines for the latest Blue Jackets practice were:
- Foligno – Domi – Atkinson
- Grigorenko – Dubois – Bjorkstrand
- Jenner – Texier – Bemstrom
- Foudy – Nash – Robinson
The defense pairs were:
- Werenski- Jones
- Gavrikov- Savard
- Del Zotto – Kukan
- Harrington – Carlsson
