McDavid a Game-Time Decision for Oilers In Game 5

Connor McDavid is a game-time decision for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5 versus the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

Connor McDavid was not on the ice as the Edmonton Oilers took their pre-game skate on Tuesday. The assumption was that he was likely being rested before taking part in an elimination game. However, comments from the coach after practice suggest it might be more uncertain.

McDavid is being listed as a game-time decision.

Dealing with a lingering issue, his ice time was significantly down in Game 4. Clearly, he’s not 100 percent. The hope was that he’d be good enough to go, but now even that seems to be in question.

Jason Dickinson was also not on the ice and will be a game-time decision as well.

Connor Ingram will start in goal, getting the net back after Tristan Jarry started but lost Game 4 in overtime. Jarry played well, but it’s been Ingram’s net the last quarter of the season and the Oilers are going to live or die with him as their netminder.

If McDavid and Dickinson aren’t able to go, the Oilers face a real uphill battle. They’re playing an elimination game and haven’t had their best stuff all series.

The Oilers are trying to remain positive. Kasperi Kapanen said, “There’s a lot of room to improve and I don’t think we’ve even been close to what we were at the end of the season… At the same time, there’s no panic, we’re a confident group.”
