“It’s such a different atmosphere and everyone is so professional here,” is what defenseman Mark Giordano said when asked about the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames players all sharing a locker room prior to the All-Star Game and skill contest this weekend.
Giordano admits that things may change once the weekend is done and the two teams go up against each other in back-to-back games starting January 29, but for now, he doesn’t expect there to be fireworks.
Giordano Praises Tkachuk
Not that anyone should expect anything less from one of Matthew Tkachuk’s teammates but from there, Giordano talked about the notorious pest means to the Flames team and his teammates, calling him one of the best agitators in the NHL but also one of the best players because he can put up big numbers.
Giordano also said that Tkachuk creates a lot of emotion for their team and he’s a guy you want to have on your side. Come Sunday, when the Oilers vow to even the score after what Tkachuk did to Zack Kassian, it will be interesting to see how Giordano feels.
But, who knows, maybe the game won’t get messy. It sounds like both teams have been given a stern warning by the NHL, both GM’s were called and George Parros will be attending the game in person to ensure nothing goes off the rails.
