Seven Maple Leafs’ Player Moves Prior Blue Jackets Game Tonight

To prepare for their game with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Toronto Maple Leafs made a number of player moves. What were they?

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a series of player moves, mostly to cover injuries. In fact, a number of the young players brought up from the Toronto Marlies might make their NHL debut tonight when the Maple Leafs play the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Player Move #1: Travis Dermott Out with Shoulder Injury

Travis Dermott will be out with a shoulder injury. There’s no timetable for his return, but it shouldn’t be too long.

Player Move #2: Mitch Marner Will Be Out Just Under a Month

It was reported that Mitch Marner had undergone an MRI and the results suggested that he should be held out of the lineup. He’s projected to miss about three-to-four weeks. He should be back just around Christmas, perhaps a few days later.

Player Move #3: Maple Leafs Move Joey Anderson Back to the Toronto Marlies

The Maple Leafs reported that it would be sending Joey Anderson back to the AHL Toronto Marlies. He played a couple of games with the big club, but didn’t score a goal.

Player Move #4: Alex Steeves Has Been Moved Up to the Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs have moved Alex Stevves to their Maple Leafs’ roster. There’s a good chance he’ll play tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It would be his NHL debut. Steeves played NCAA hockey with the University of Notre Dame. Steeves has a unique offensive skillset, so he might even get some time with the team’s top-six units.

Player Move #5: Defenseman Kristians Rubins Has Been Moved to the Maple Leafs

Fourth-year Marlies’ player, defenseman Kristians Rubins has been called to the Maple Leafs and the rumor is that he’ll make his NHL debut tonight. He won’t set the world on fire on the scoresheet, but he does have the size and plays a steady game.

Player Move #6: Alex Biega Has Been Called Up to the Maple Leafs

Veteran NHL defenseman Alex Biega has been called up by Toronto. With both Dermott and Sandin out, he might get a lot of playing time. He’s an easy move into the lineup. During preseason, he showed he was a capable NHL defenseman.

Player Move #7: Rasmus Sandin’s Knee Injury Moves Him to the IR

Rasmus Sandin’s knee injury landed him on the injured reserve list (IR). The word is that Sandin will miss about two-to-three weeks. It could have been much worse. He was injured in a knee-on-knee collision with the Winnipeg Jets Neal Pionk. Sadly, Sandin was coming into his own. Maple Leafs’ fans have to hope the injury doesn’t set back his progression.
