J.T. Miller Warns Media Before Joining Team for Game vs. Panthers

J.T. Miller spoke with media ahead of the game versus the Panthers, warning media not to ask about his choice to step away from the Canucks.

J.T. Miller is back for the Vancouver Canucks and will be in the lineup on Thursday night as they take on the Florida Panthers. He spoke with the media ahead of the game and gave a statement and a bit of a warning that he wouldn’t be talking about why he stepped away and that he knows they’ll ask, but he’ll refuse to answer. Miller wants to focus on what’s ahead and not what was in the past.

He then sarcastically chuckled when the first question from a member of the media was, “How are you doing?”

Miller left the Canucks on personal leave three weeks ago and hasn’t played a game since. The team said they were supporting Miller and even though it was not revealed why he stepped away, he received everything from praise for being strong enough to back off to criticism for not gutting it out with such a hefty contract. Speculation ran rampant that he was told to take a break because he has a reputation for being hard on his teammates, while others wondered if he just needed a refresher.

The fans often chanted his name while he was away, even doing so at a wrestling event in Vancouver when the WWE was in town. He was asked about the support and responded he was pretty much out of the loop on everything, but he appreciates it.

Miller Will Ignore the Media and Focus on the Canucks

Miller noted that he saw the Canucks were finding ways to win games without him, which was a great sign. Still, the team will do better with him on the ice as he’s one of their more productive forwards.

As for why he took a break, that may never be clarified. Perhaps it’s no one’s business. But, one thing was clear from his media scrum: if reporters ask, they’ll like be ignored or get an earful after being told he has no plans to address it.
