Blues’ Jordan Kyrou Has Been Traded to the Washington Capitals

The St. Louis Blues are trading top-six forward Jordan Kyrou to the Washington Capitals.

According to a report by Elliotte Friedman, St. Louis Blues top-six forward Jordan Kyrou is being traded to Washington. The Capitals will get Kyrou in another early trade as the action continues before the NHL Draft.

The Capitals confirmed the trade, writing they have acquired forward Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues for forwards Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin and Washington’s first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft.

“We are thrilled to acquire Jordan and welcome him to our team,” said senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick. H added, “Jordan is an exceptionally talented and dynamic offensive player who will make an immediate impact on our club. His skill, creativity, and ability to generate offense at an elite level will be a tremendous addition to our group. At just 28 years old and under contract for the next five seasons, Jordan is entering the prime years of his career. We believe he is an ideal fit for our team both now and for the long term.”

Kyrou, 28, is a three-time 30-goal scorer and one of the St. Louis Blues’ most productive forwards in recent years. He posted a career-high 37 goals in 2022-23 and has led the team in multiple offensive categories over the past five seasons. Despite reduced ice time this past year, he still recorded 46 points. Kyrou has 378 career points in 488 games, along with international success, including gold at the 2018 World Juniors.

As far as what the Blues are getting back, the first-round pick is the big asset but the players are useful. Connor McMichael, 25, recorded 46 points in 78 games last season and has 154 points over six seasons with Washington, along with modest playoff production. He previously posted career highs of 57 points and 26 goals in 2024-25.

Gästrin, 19, tallied 24 points in Sweden’s SHL last season.
