Jonathan Toews and Blackhawks Issue Statements About Scary Health Issue

The Chicago Blackhawks have issued a statement on the health status of forward Jonathan Towes health issues.

After the forward commented on his not feeling right, the Chicago Blackhawks have issued a statement on the health status of forward Jonathan Toews Tuesday morning. This comes after news that he’ll be out with an illness and would miss NHL training camp.

Toews said he felt “drained and lethargic” and added he is working with doctors to get down to the bottom of his issues. He did not know when he would be back with the team. He said, “I am extremely disappointed but it wouldn’t be fair to myself or my teammates to attempt to play in my current condition.”

Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman released the following statement:

Jonathan’s health is our top priority as he deals with this medical issue. The Chicago Blackhawks organization and our medical staff will provide all necessary resources to help him return to playing hockey. While he will not report to training camp on January 3 and will be out indefinitely, we will continue to support him as he is an important part of our family. I’ve been in regular communication with Jonathan recently and will continue that as he takes care of his health.

It is not clear at all what is happening to Toews, but the descriptions of whatever is ailing him sound cryptic and scary.

Chicago Lineup Extremely Depleted

This is now the third forward the Blackhawks are finding out may miss time this season. Both Kirby Dach and Alexander Nylander will require surgery and could miss the entirety of the 2020-21 season.

While the team is rebuilding and many have written off the season for Chicago, this is not the type of news the organization was looking for to start the year.

Hopefully, Toews’ issues are not serious and he will be able to return sooner than later. He said he will not be making further comment at this time and has asked for privacy as he focuses on his health and recovery.
