Injury Update on Linus Ullmark Who Didn’t Return vs. Oilers

Senators’ goalie Linus Ullmark exits early against Oilers, sparking injury concerns as Ottawa fights for a playoff spot.

As per the Ottawa Senators, “Linus Ullmark sustained an upper-body injury during tonight’s game against the Edmonton Oilers. He will not return to action this evening.” The update does not give any indication as to the severity of Ullmak’s injury, but it is definitely concerning for the Senators.

Ullmark left the game against the Oilers after the first period and didn’t return for the second period. It wasn’t clear why, but speculation was he took a shot early in the game that might have caused an issue. Ullmark, who has been a cornerstone of the Senators’ recent success, was replaced by Leevi Merilainen to start the second period.

Speculation arose when Ullmark appeared to wince after a Connor McDavid shot, suggesting he may have aggravated an upper-body injury that has lingered since training camp. Despite looking sharp early in the game, Ullmark’s abrupt exit raises questions about his availability moving forward.

The timing of this development is notable, as the NHL’s Christmas break is approaching, potentially offering Ullmark time to recover without missing additional games. With the Senators just two points out of the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, his health is critical for their playoff push. The hope here is that this isn’t anything serious.

Ullmark Is Absolutely Essential to the Senators’ Success

Ullmark has been in stellar form this season, posting impressive save percentages and keeping Ottawa in close contests. His absence could pose a significant challenge for the Senators, who have leaned heavily on his consistent performances to stay competitive.

Everyone will closely monitor updates on Ullmark’s condition as Ottawa hopes for a quick recovery to maintain their momentum in the playoff race.

According to the NHL’s website, the Senators are IN the second wild-card spot, not two points out. And in fact they’re 3 points up on the team chasing them (Pittsburgh) and the Senators have a game in hand.
