Impact Wrestling Drops the Impact Grand Title
Austin Aries and Impact Wrestling have merged the Heavyweight Title with the Grand Title.
It was hinted at by Austin Aries and officially revealed by Impact Wrestling that the Impact Grand Title is done, eliminated, deleted, over and done with and merged. The company announced that Impact World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries is unifying the two belts into an Undisputed championship and the Grand Title will cease to exist. Aries was recently crowned World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Pentagon Jr. on the latest episode of Impact. He became the Grand Title holder back in March of 2018.

The Impact Grand Title came into existence back in 2016 after a tournament crowned Aron Rex (Damien Sandow) the inaugural champion. Moose, Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre), Ethan Carter III (EC3), Josh Mathews, and Matt Sydal have also held or defended the championship.
Aries has had a strong run on the independent circuit snatching up multiple titles since he left WWE. He’s claimed to be doing better now than he’s ever done and merging the titles, because he has so many, may indicate he’s got a point.
