Golden Knights Trading for Mattias Janmark, Sharks Act as Broker

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded for Mattias Janmark with the Chicago Blackhaws. The Sharks act as a broker.

As per a report by TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, “all signs point to Mattias Janmark ending up in Vegas.” He adds, “Hearing that the Blackhawks and Golden Knights still working on the details. Not done yet but headed that way if both teams can finalize it.” A few minutes later, the trade was finalized. The Golden Knights send a 2nd round pick to Chicago, and swap a 3rd for a 5th.

There was talk Janmark was on the radar for a few teams, the Golden Knights weren’t really among them. At the same time, there were talks that Vegas might be looking to be active, despite not having any cap space to make a move. It appears the San Jose Sharks will get involved much like they did in Nick Foligno’s move to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Janmark is much needed addition to the Golden Knights bottom-six forwards. The Golden Knights got a good look at Janmark during the playoffs last season and he gave Vegas fits. He registered three points in the Stanley Cup Final and has 45 games of playoff experience. He signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks this past offseason, but it was clear the team was going to try and move him before Monday’s deadline.

For the Golden Knights, they never stop trying to add and are favorites to contend this year in the playoffs. This is one of the busiest teams in the NHL when it comes to making deals. They’ll do whatever they need to in order to add the pieces they think will give them that extra boost.
