Flyers Growing Frustrated With Travis Konecny, Could Consider a Trade

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly growing frustrated with Travis Konecny, and a trade could become an option if their struggles continue.

The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a disastrous 0-5-2 start to their 2026-27 season, which has already raised questions about the potential for major changes to the roster.

While the Flyers are very unlikely to part with any of their young talent, there are some intriguing veterans they could opt to move, and none would be bigger than Travis Konecny.

According to team reporter Anthony Di Marco, that possibility could become a reality if Philadelphia doesn’t snap out of its struggles, adding that the organization is growing frustrated with Konecny’s play.

Di Marco wrote:

“Speaking with sources Monday, there is a growing sense of frustration from within the Flyers organization with Konecny. According to one source, Konecny isn’t overly impactful when he isn’t scoring or antagonizing the opposing team. The play often dies on his stick, making bad decisions with the puck that often lead to turnovers. As one source said, the one-constant on the Flyers’ struggling power play the last number of seasons has been Konecny – a fairly-damning criticism.

According to sources, approaching Konecny to waive his no-movement clause could be an option should the Flyers continue to struggle,”

The 29-year-old Konecny just began Year 2 of the eight-year, $70 million contract extension he signed with the Flyers in 2024. He’s tallied three points (three assists) in five games so far this season.

Konecny was just placed on IR with a lower-body injury, which complicates things, though it doesn’t seem to be anything too serious, rather more of a day-to-day issue.

Di Marco went on to link the Utah Mammoth as a potential fit for Konecny, but league-wide interest certainly wouldn’t stop there for a star winger who has racked up 60-plus points in four consecutive seasons while playing on a not-so-potent Philadelphia offense.

Should the Flyers remain near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings closer to the trade deadline, Konecny could emerge as one of the top names available on the market.
