Because the Calgary Flames have had a player test positive for coronavirus, the team announced that they canceled Friday’s morning skate and put that player in isolation. The Flames are set to take on the Montreal Canadiens this evening and the game is still a go, as of this writing.

No other players have tested positive, which is good news because it doesn’t suggest there’s a Vancouver Canucks type of problem going on here. The Canucks were ravaged by the Brazilian variant of the virus. The Flames organization has been posting additional tweets about tonight’s game as though everything else is normal.
The NHL is crossing their fingers that nothing big comes out of this. Not only because the health of the players is important, but the league is quickly running out of days to schedule makeup games. Any further delays will really push the playoffs back. The Flames specifically already have four games in a row scheduled against the Vancouver Canucks, meaning their schedule doesn’t end until May 19.
The identity of the player will not be released until the COVID Protocol Related Absences list comes out.
