Dylan Holloway to Make Oilers Debut in Game 4 vs. Avalanche

Dylan Holloway will reportedly be making his NHL debut tonight in Game 4 for the Edmonton Oilers.

It appears the Edmonton Oilers are going to look to a rookie to help them stave off elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. According to a couple of sources, including Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Oilers will be inserting forward Dylan Holloway into the lineup for Game 4 versus the Colorado Avalanche.

Servalli notes, “Hearing Dylan Holloway is scheduled to make his #NHL debut tonight in Game 4 for #LetsGoOilers as they try to stave off a sweep from #GoAvsGo.” The reason is likely twofold: the Oilers need another forward after learning that Evander Kane would be out of the lineup and serving a one-game suspension for his hit on Nazem Kadri in Game 3, and they need to inject some offense into their lineup.

It doesn’t appear Kailer Yamamoto will be playing due to injury and Holloway is known as a speedy forward who can make plays and finish.

Holloway’s season has been up and down, as has much of his pro career due to multiple injuries. He missed the opening of the 2021-22 season after undergoing wrist surgery and then joined the Oiler AHL team, the Bakersfield Condors in January. He started out strong but had a little trouble maintaining his consistency. He ended up with eight goals and 22 points in 33 games in his rookie AHL season. During the team’s five-game playoff run, he added two goals and two assists.

At this point, the Oilers have everything and nothing to lose. If they don’t pick up a win, they’re out of the postseason. At the same time, they have to try something different to finally get a leg up on the Avalanche who have been the better team in all three games of this series. Nothing else has worked and the team is extremely short-handed on offense.
