Ducks Weighing Two Big Trade Offers For Mason McTavish

The Anaheim Ducks are weighing two trade offers for Mason McTavish, one from the New York Rangers and the other from ther St. Louis Blues.

There’s growing speculation around Mason McTavish, with the Anaheim Ducks believed to be weighing offers from both the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers.

One reported framework has St. Louis centering its offer around the 11th overall pick, while the Rangers’ proposal is believed to involve a roster player—though the exact name remains unclear. What complicates matters is Anaheim’s apparent preference: they’re not looking for futures as much as immediate help. The Ducks see themselves as a team ready to take a step forward, meaning NHL-ready talent likely holds more appeal than draft capital.

That said, if Anaheim does lean toward the Blues’ offer, the 11th overall pick could become a trade chip in a separate move to acquire a player who can contribute right away. In other words, the Ducks might be open to the trade with the Blues, but GM Pat Verbeek is trying to see what he can get for the No. 11 pick once he acquires it.

Ottawa was also believed to have an interest in McTavish, with organizational ties and familiarity in play, but it appears the strongest offers ultimately came from St. Louis and New York. The Blues clearly made the switch towards McTavish after it was learned that Jason Robertson had no desire to accept a trade to St. Louis or sign an extension. If this doesn’t pan out for them, who do they target next?

One consistent theme in all of this: Verbeek is patient and deliberate. He’s operating on his own timeline, not the market’s. And with several teams aggressively exploring moves—San Jose, Seattle, Dallas, and Buffalo among them—this situation remains fluid as trade chatter intensifies across the league.

There are teams out there with multiple first-round picks and trades are expected on Friday. Will McTavish be among them? It appears so. It’s a matter of where and right now the Blues and Rangers are leading the way.

The one team that appears out of the running now are the Ottawa Senators. It was believed they were early players in the McTavish trade game but things fell apart there this week.
