As per Darren Dreger of TSN, “Sources say the Arizona Coyotes are shopping the rights to Taylor Hall.” If true and the Coyotes are serious about moving Hall, fans should expect a deal to go down sometime between now and the start of tomorrow’s NHL Entry Draft.

It will be interesting to see if team’s are interested in getting a bit of an extra window to chat with Hall or if they’ll wait until the opening of free agency on October 9. With news that Hall is now open to discussing short-term deals, the amount of teams that might show interest likely increased this weekend, thus the law of supply and demand suggests that it might be smart of a team to toss a fifth or sixth round pick to the Coyotes for a chance to have that conversation.

Being the only team able to negotiate or add an eighth year in any deal is an advantage. And, typically, it doesn’t cost much to get a leg up on other teams. And, if the Coyotes now know for sure he’s not staying, there’s really no reason to let Hall walk for nothing if you can get literally anything for him.

Hall Has Lots of Game Left

Hall Had 27pts in 35 games for the Coyotes. He was a Hart Trophy Winner as part of the New Jersey Devils team. He was the heart and soul of the Edmonton Oilers prior to the arrival of Connor McDavid. For all the flack Hall catches from the mainstream fan base, he’s still a heck of a player.

If the right deal is out there and if he’s willing to look at a variety of options, he could be one of the steals of this offseason for a franchise.

Leading candidates right now could be the Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders or Florida Panthers.
